SDG3: Good Health and Wellbeing - Action to improve global or local health & wellbeing

Does your university as a body:

1. Have current collaborations with local or global health institutions to improve health & wellbeing outcomes?

• local collaborations - Yes. Police Clinic, Eleyele Ibadan and University College Hospital, Ibadan for patient referrals; Ibadan North Local Government Primary Healthcare for monthly, quarterly and annual health statistics & reports; Youth Friendly Centre for Peer-counselling, recreation, students medical registration, health education activities, etc.

• national collaborations – Nigeria Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI), for

Family Planning.

• global collaborations – Damien Foundation, for management of Tuberculosis. World Health Organization (WHO), through Ibadan North Local Government Authority for adequate immunization coverage.

2. Deliver outreach programmes and projects in the local community (which can include student volunteering programmes) to improve or promote health & wellbeing including hygiene, nutrition, family planning, sports, exercise, aging well, and other health and wellbeing related topics?

• ad hoc – Yes. Participation in community activities and delivery of health talks; outreaches by the various units including Physiotherapy, Optometry, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Environmental Health, Workplace Wellness, Medical Social Work, Mental Health, Family Planning, Reproductive health, Immunization, Medical Records, etc.; physical inspection of halls of residence, eateries, and other places of public interest. Telemedicine as an adhoc activity since Covid-19, but which will continue.


• as part of an ongoing programme- Provision of empowerment by education using the University Community Radio, i.e., Diamond FM twice a week, same topic in English and Yoruba. Engagement of students from the University Work-study Scheme to assist their finances and thereby their general health well being. University Workplace Wellness programme. Increasing presence of the UHS on social media for ongoing education, enlightenment, and possible advocacy. Seasonal online fitness club, hosted by the physiotherapy unit.

3. Share sports facilities with the local community, for instance with local schools or with the general public?

4. Provide students access to sexual and reproductive health-care services including information and education services?
